Saumya Sharma decided to prepare for UPSC while studying for LLB. Abhi was very clear about her goal and she worked hard and achieved it in the first attempt.

Saumya Sharma had to struggle a lot to achieve this position as IAS officer. You will be surprised to know that Saumya, who lost her hearing power at the age of just 16, did not lose courage and decided to go to the highest service of the country. Even during the examination, she remained ill and gave the UPSC Mains exam in 103 degree fever. Knowing her story, you will also salute her.

Soumya Sharma is originally from Delhi. At the age of 16, something happened to her that shook her life. Soumya's hearing power suddenly went away. Despite all the efforts, she had to take the help of hearing aid to hear. It took her some time to recover from this shock but she never thought of going back from her dream. She was determined that she would go to the civil service and for this she tried her best.

Soumya Sharma has completed her LLB degree from National Law College. During this, she made a plan to prepare by gathering complete information about UPSC. She cleared the prelim exam in her first attempt and started preparing for mains. However, even on the day of the mains exam, her health deteriorated and she gave the paper in 103 degree fever. Both Soumya's parents are doctors and they handled the situation in a good way. Soumya showed indomitable courage and gave the best performance in the very first attempt. In this way, in the year 2017, she has fulfilled her dream by achieving All India Rank 9.

Soumya Sharma believes that before preparing for UPSC, you should make a blueprint for it. Accordingly, you proceed with your strategy. Soumya says that with limited thinking, you cover the UPSC syllabus gradually. There is no use in showing haste here. Along with studies, make small notes and keep practicing answer writing. After completing the syllabus, revise as much as possible and strengthen your preparation by giving mock test papers. According to her, if you face the challenges that overcome here, then you can definitely be successful.

At the age of 3, Saumya had developed her interest in reading newspapers. In 2010, she has topped her school in 10th class. At the age of 16, she lost her hearing ability and she now wears hearing aids to hear. Saumya aspired to become a neurologist as her parents are doctors but later, she changed her decision and started studying law.

When she was in her final semester of the law degree, she started doing the preparation of UPSC exam. She studied 16 to 17 hours every day to clear the UPSC exam. Saumya Sharma achieved 9th rank in the 2017 UPSC exam and was the Delhi topper. This was her first attempt. She never took coaching classes but she joined several test series . At the time of UPSC mains exam, she suffered from 103-degree fever. She had cracked several campus placement interviews which helped her to crack the interview of UPSC.
